journey to CT!!!!

Our mission trip is just around the corner and we can't wait to go! Things are hectic preparing for Connecticut while selling a house but the excitement is contagious...tonight our group of 10 met for the final time before take-off on Saturday to pray and talk over last minute details. We know God had this group in mind for this journey long before we knew it and that He goes before us. We're assured that it will be a worthwhile week in our walk with Him!

The group has raised over $4000 in the last month and we're only $700 away from the grand total needed. If you desire to help us financially, now is the time. You can give securely online at Journey's website by clicking here or contact me for other options. It's just a click away and we'd appreciate any money thrown our way for the trip, trusting that it will be provided!

This is my last post til' we return. Catch ya' later!

We've gotten so much support, well-wishes and prayers and it's been encouraging to me and Mike. We love you all and appreciate it greatly...kind, encouraging words mean more than you know!

Kristy, You and Mike have fun on your mission trip. I'm proud of both of you and the way you live your lives. I still remember a young lady who came to our little Presbyterian Church in Danville,
VA on a mission trip when I was in grammar school. She made such an impression on my life. Love, GM Doris

Here I Am Lord
by David Danner

vs 1:
I, the Lord of sea and sky.
I have heard My people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear My light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Chorus:
Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.

vs 2:
I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have born My peoples pain.
I have wept for love of them, They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak My word to them,
Whom shall I send?

(Chorus)

vs 3:
I the Lord, of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them,
My hand will save -
Finest bread I will provide,
Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give My life to them,
Whom shall I send?

(Chorus)

Kristy, this song is just one example of why I can not leave music out of my Christian life. I can memorize better if the message has a tune to it!

This song is running through my head tonight as I think about yours and Mike's mission trip.

When I was growing up, the churches we were in always had an active mission emphasis even for young girls and boys. Back then, most Baptist men believed that WOMEN could actually be missionaries, EVEN IF THEY WERE SINGLE! (Shame on today's Baptist men, but there's still hope, so I'm hanging in there!) Anyway . . . they taught us in depth about missions, in a group called G.A.'s (Girls Auxillary). The teachers taught us that when we accepted Christ, we became a missionary! We're supposed to do our part!

An educational benefit to being in GA's was the geography lessons. I could name you any country in the world, show it to you on a map, tell you if we had missionaries in that country or state, or if it was closed to mission work, what the living conditions were like, how missionary kids got along, what they ate, etc., etc., etc.

This same group is responsible for the scriptures I memorized and still know today - like The Great Commission - "Go, ye therefore and teach all nations . . ."

Our theme song was "We,ve a Story to Tell to the Nations" (which BTW is a very difficult hymn to play. It was when I mastered it on the piano well enough for people to sing along, that I knew I would be a church musician!) AND that's my CALLING - church music and I refuse to let anybody dampen my spirit about being an organist. I play to support others in their WORSHIP OF GOD. It's not a self-serving thing I do, mind you. (And it's certainly what keeps me poor, like a missionary! LOL) ok ok

So. . .my point is, don't let anyone dampen your spirit in doing what you are called to do - which is to:

Share His Love by telling what the Lord has done for you,
Share His Love by sharing of your Faith,
And show the world that Jesus Christ is real to you ev'ry moment, ev'ry day.

Finally:

Be Strong in the Lord
by Linda Johnson/Tom Fettke

Be strong in the Lord, and be of good courage; Your mighty Defender is always the same.

Mount up with wings, as the eagle ascending; Vict'ry is sure when you call on His name.

(Chorus)

So put on the armour the Lord has provided; And place your defense in His unfailing care. Trust Him, for He will be with you in battle, Lighting your path to avoid ev'ry snare.

(Chorus)

Be strong in the Lord, and be of good courage, Your mighty COmmander will vanquish the foe. Fear not the battle, for the vict'ry is always HIS; He will protect you where-ever you go.

Chorus
Be strong, be strong, be strong in the Lord, And be of good courage, for He is your guide. Be strong, be strong, be strong in the Lord;
AND REJOICE, FOR THE VICT'RY IS YOURS.

Just a few songs of encouragement to go with my prayers for you.
Have a wonderful trip and make "Precious Memories" baby!!!

{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} and kisses!!!

Love, MIMI

ps - I know a gazillion other mission hymns too - if you need to hear them let me know!!!LOL

Green Beans and Ice Cream

HEY! Its "M". Just wanted to tell you both how proud I am of you. You followed God's direction and I know you are blessed and the experience(s) will never be forgotten. 'Ya done gud!

ALSO...just had to share the green bean and ice cream story. Me, Abby and Ginger went to eat at Western "Sil-zen" (Abby's pronounciation...hehehe) on Wednesday. Abby had, amongst other things, green beans and mac-n-cheese. She ate a bit, didn't seem too hungry...but Ginger told her that if she would eat just TWO more green beans she could have some ice cream. Abby quickly chose two of the smallest green beans she could find. Of course the 2 grandmas chuckled at this. Moments later Ginger said "Abby I noticed that you ate two of the smallest green beans you could find." Without hesitation or even batting an eye Abby replied "But my mamma told me not to put too much in my mouth at one time!" heheheheh BOTH grandmas had tears running down their faces at that quick little comment. TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny. What a preciousAND smart little angel. Classic!!

Love ya, all 4---M
